I introduce you Natasha, the professional jewelry designer (Canada / Vancouver - May 2004)

Natasha was born and grew up in Siberia. Now she has got married and lives in Canada, not far away from Vancouver.

•  Hello, Irina and everyone, who is reading this web page. Thank you for your interest! My name is Natalia (this is what I got used to hear for 2 years of living in Canada ). But you can call me Natasha, in the memory of my Russian name, which I'm forgetting here more and more.

•  They know very little about Canada in Russia and the CIS.

•  Canada consists of the provinces; just like the United States consists of the states. There are 10 provinces and 3 terretories in Canada. Each of them has its own capital (just like in Russia – each region has a regional center). The name of our province is British Columbia. The beautiful British Columbia, as the Canadians say. And it's probably true, because this is the warmest and the most blossoming part of the country. We hardly see any snow in winter here. The grass stays green all the year around. We have birches, pines, fir-trees and palm-trees. The warmest part of British Columbia is Vancouver island, where the capital of the province (Victoria) is located. The capital has got its name after the English queen.

Natalia is a bright and very passionate person, she likes to make her husband happy by the culinary surprises, she's fond of the bead work and driving. And she's also a creative person. Here, take a look at the amazing ornaments she has created.

Tell us how did you come to Canada?

•  I married a Canadian man and moved here about two years ago. I came here by chance, but I was very happy that I had this chance. If I had a choice among all the countries, I would come to Vancouver. It is British Columbia, that I have once found on the climatic map of the world, when it was –40 C outdoors, and I was dreaming to go to a warm and blossoming country, but in the temperate zone I got used to. I thought the place seemed to be a paradise, but I couldn't even imagine that my dream would once come true. I am grateful to Its Majesty, the Chance.

Natasha, what was your profession in Russia ?

•  I'm a manager with the red diploma. But I had to study here for 2 years to confirm the diploma anyway. Or I had to get a new profession in 2 years.

Why did you choose the second?

•  My husband saw my bead works and offered to find the jewelers' courses. I thought that being a jeweler was more interesting for me. It is one more happy chance in my life. I couldn't believe that I could be accepted to the college without the complete art education. But the examination committee was more interested not in the papers, but in the fact, whether a creative person was sitting in front of them and whether he or she was confident that the profession was for him or her. I am very grateful to them for this.

Was it difficult to study?

I didn't like it at the very beginning. I had to use the tools that I was not used too. I could not saw the metal straightly no matter how much I tried. I was afraid to soldering. It was not clear to me how one could solder without burning themselves. Now I like everything and everything turns out great.
