Glass production in the north of Bohemia is dated back to the 16th century and has become the basis for jewellery and glass bead production development in the region of the Izera Mountains.
It reached its peak before World War II when the town of Jablonec nad Nisou became a major centre of jewellery production and commerce of worldwide importance. Currently, Czech beads is firmly established in the all world trade of articles.
